National Brewing Museum & Potosi Brewery Foundation Historical Hops Production Exhibit

Wisconsin was once the hop production capital.  Granted, that was in the mid 1860's but it set a presidence; hops can be sucessfully grown in the Midwest.

Gorst Valley Hops in conjunction with the National Brewing Museum and the Potosi Brewery Foundation have set out to demonstrate the unique nature of hops production through living exhibits on the historic brewery grounds in Potosi, WI.  For more information on the brewery, museum, or foundation please visit
http://www.potosibrewery.com/

The concept behind the exhibits is simple:  Inform visitors that Wisconsin was once the leader in hops production.  Using this history we are forging a new path into hops production once again, but this time focusing 100% on quality, not quantity.  This way we will add value to brewers' creations and differentiate our hops from other commercially available sources.

We have the opportunity to choose to how we move forward as farmers, brewers and stewards of the environment in producing hops.  The more people become aware of utilizing local goods and services the more common the practice will become.

Using local goods reduces the impact on the environment and many time (as with hops for example) can dramatically improve quality.  Revenue is retained within the region and both farmers and brewers benefit.

Gorst Valley Hops is dedicated to this agenda and will continue to pursue it with enthusiasm.
